Notes for GEORGE WILLIE:

George Willie was killed by his wife. According to James Roger North (my father), as George was sitting on a stump in the yard, Lizzie (Elizabeth Davis) slipped up behind him and buried a maddox in his head. He also reports that Lizzie spent much time in the Athens Mental Hospital (where she also died). He reports that sometimes the less dangerous patients were allowed out to go uptown. He remembers a few occasions as a child that his mother (Gertrude) would pull him and his sister (Pat) across the street to avoid her. He said that if Lizzie started talking, she never stopped and it was nearly impossibly to get away. (I do not know if this was part of her mental issues or just a personality trait).[Family2.FTW]

They crossed the center line and rode about 100 yards along the opposite berm before Pat reached over and grabbed the steering wheel, yanking them into an oncoming truck, the resulting crash being fatal.
