A very special THANK YOU to
my dad, James Roger North, for helping me identify all of these
old
photos, including the towns and people. Without his help this project
would have been nearly impossible.
His father, Howard Elson
North, was the photographer for the coal camp pictures posted on this
site.

Superior, West Virginia,
Map of the town 1940's & 1950's
This map has been draw by Ken Scarberry, who grew up
in Lake Superior in the 40's & 50's. The map details locations of his
1st, 2nd & 3rd houses in Superior, as well as the towns stores,
railroads, named mountains, housing areas, resident's houses, Coal
tipples, powder house, steam house, machine shop, cage house, lamp
house, Union hall & more!
Ken's been kind enough to make this map for the site,
so that others, like you, can get a feel for the town as it was.
Thanks Ken! I really appreciate the addition & the
memories you've shared!
